how to recover a acer laptop?
I am on my pc at home, I also have an acer laptop computer. It has froze up on me. I would like to be able to print out some direction's on how to restore it. Is there anyway that you can help me?
First you will need a restore disc. These usually come with the computer. If you do not have the restore disc you can use a windows disc that is the same OS version as the one that was originally installed. You can find what version of windows was on the computer by looking on the back of it and there will be a label that with the windows product key as well as the version I.E. Windows Vista Professional. (one thing i like to do it download the oem version of the disc from a torrent site and burn it to a blank dvd and then use this as my OS or restore disc and then just use the original product key from the back of the computer)
After you have the disc into the computer then go ahead and proceed to shut down the computer.
What we need to do next is to boot it to the disc. You can do this several ways:
1. you can boot into the bios (usually by pressing F2 or ESC, on boot it should tell you). Once your in the bios you will have to set the boot options so that the boot device priority is set the load from your optical drive. This drive is more commonly known as the disc drive. Once you have set this as the main boot option then save and exit the bios and the computer will start
2. The second thing that you can do is a lot of manufacturers will actually add a BOOT TO prompt from start up. Sometimes this is F12 or Sometimes it will say "press any key to see boot options". Then you want to select you disc drive(optical drive) and it will load to the disc
boot options are different between different manufacturers you just have to see what options pop up on boot. The initial boot screen where they are displayed may load by so quick it may be hard to see.
Once you have booted to the disc the options should be pretty user friendly and pretty straight forward. Windows installations usually consists of clicking next next next the whole time.
Also if you need more discs you can also call the manufacturer and they will send you more discs for a small fee.
In addition to that some computer now come with Restore partitions that allow you to boot from them instead of needing a disc. For example HP's boot to the restore partition is simply accessed by pressing F11 on start up. Acers may or may not have one of these and the options may vary.
I think ALT + F10 is acer recovery on start up
1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3.Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4.Click “OK” to continue
5.From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6.Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit
These are some basic steps you can take
